A procedure in which a sample of tissue for examination under a microscope. Is inserted through the mouth into the esophagus with an endoscope, an ultrasound probe and needle biopsy. An endoscope is a thin tube with a light and a lens for viewing. The ultrasound probe is used to bounce sound waves of high energy to the organs and tissues to obtain an image on a monitor. The image helps the doctor to see the place where the biopsy needle. Also called fine needle aspiration guided by endoscopic ultrasound.
