Hereditary osteodystrophy of associated, often, to pseudohypoparathyroidism characterized by hypocalcemia, hyperphosphatemia and inadequate response or tissue resistance to normal or elevated levels of parathyroid hormone. Affects children with dwarfism or short stature, mental retardation, short neck, failure olfactory round face, obesity and shortening characteristic of third and fourth metacarpals and metatarsals. There is a decreased cAMP response to parathyroid hormone, in the absence of Gs protein.
