Substance that makes blood stem cells (cells from which other cells develop) to become different types of blood cells and increase the amount and activity of these cells in the blood. It is being studied for the treatment of myelodysplasia. The ancestim is a type of growth factor recombinant stem cells. Also called stem cell factor recombinant methionyl human, r-metHuSCF and Stemgen.
