A drug used to treat certain types of colorectal cancers, lung and breast, and glioblastomas. Is also being studied for treating other cancers. Avastin binds to vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) and could prevent and eliminate the formation of new blood vessels that tumors need to grow. It is a type of antiangiogenesis agent and a type of monoclonal antibody. Also called bevacizumab.
