Medical Definition: Compassionate Use Study

How to administer an experimental therapy to a patient who is not eligible for treatment in a clinical trial, but suffers from a serious illness or life threatening and for which there is no other treatments. Compassionate use studies allow patients to receive cancer therapies that are promising but not yet fully studied or have been approved, when no other treatment option. Also called expanded access trial.
