Medical Definition: Erythroid dysplasia

A condition in which immature red blood cells (erythroid cells) in bone marrow in size, shape, organization or issue are abnormal. Erythroid dysplasia can be caused by vitamin deficiency or chemotherapy, or it may be a sign of refractory anemia, a myelodysplastic syndrome. Also called erythrodysplasia.
