Medical Definition: FIHP

A rare inherited condition which forms one or more tumors in the parathyroid glands (four organs the size of a pea to be found in the thyroid) and causes these glands to make too much parathyroid hormone. Too much parathyroid hormone causes the bones lose calcium and too much calcium in the blood. Also called familial isolated hyperparathyroidism.
