Medical Definition: Franconi Syndrome

Group of kidney disorders that cause protein, sugars, minerals and other nutrients are lost in the urine. Symptoms include weakness, bone pain and evacuation of a larger amount of urine than normal. A form of Fanconi syndrome is inherited and is usually found in infants. Fanconi syndrome could also be due to other diseases, lack of vitamin D or exposure to heavy metals or chemicals, such as certain cancer drugs.
