Colony stimulating factor of granulocytes. Low molecular weight glycoprotein that stimulates production of white blood cells that fight infection and is used in people with cancer after chemotherapy. It is a natural cytokine (protein) produced an increase in the number and function of neutrophils. Exogenous administration has been widely used in the treatment of febrile nuetropenia.
