A drug used to treat advanced pancreatic cancer or has spread. Also used with other drugs to treat breast cancer that has spread, ovarian cancer in advanced lung cancer and non-small cell advanced or has spread. It is also under study in the treatment of other cancers. Gemcitabine hydrochloride prevents cells from making DNA and may kill cancer cells. Also called Gemzar.
