Diagnostic test that evaluates the supresibilidad of the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal, as used in the investigation of endogenous hypercortisolism or Cushing syndrome. Oral administration of a milligram at night is used as a screening test. The two milligrams daily for two days as a confirmatory test, and eight milligrams per day for two days, used to make the differential diagnosis of Cushing's disease.
